CHEVY COBALT SS GRAND AM CUP ST UPDATE:
headleft headright

Sorry, the updates for the Cobalt SS teams in Grand-am Cup ST racing haven't been current due to some problems the past couple years, but this will be changing soon! Now, as to the teams,  unfortunately the '05 info has still been about the story for the Cobalt SS cars since then. GM spent a lot of their money (good to see finally!!) and hired some big guns for the series, but ditto, ditto ditto.... after 3 years the best they have done is a 3rd in the series. They left some of the experienced GM teams behind (ours included) to go with their chosen "boys" but half of them couldn't make the  entire grueling season like we did in the '03 season where we finished 3rd overall in the series- with just one car and our own money! Unfortunately  they came up only a few points short of the winning the title on two occasions, which we were sorry to see! Maybe they could have used us??

The '08 ST Cobalt SS cars are now sporting the new turbo engine, so we hope that the influx of  the new power-train will be a positive and successful combo for the "Bowtie brigade". We wish them well and look forward to posting more winning info on the site in the future. We hope GM will continue to support the ST racers, and maybe they will embrace a few more teams to give them the ammunition they need to finally beat the Honda/Acuras and BMW cars that have had so many years of factory and racer support. Look for the Grand Am cars to start the full season later this spring at Lime Rock, Ct. on May 24th. For more info on the cars, teams and races, find all the info at www.grand-am.com.

2.4 Hybrid intake manifold- this is a specially modified cast alum. HO intake that is a direct bolt up to any '96 and up 2.4 engine now.

Requires relocation of air intake and EGR- $225 outright ($175 exchge.)

2.3 Forged factory race crankshaft- this is one of the last made by Gm (Olds Rocketparts/Motorsports) through Kellogg cranks.
It is a factory forging and new with all stock dimensions, the only way to insure a strong bottom end on a high- boost Quad 2.3. $500

2.3 Titanium connecting rods- these are the ultimate in light weight and strength for your all out Quad engine.
This is a used, low-mileage set and all specs are std. and they need nothing except a clean to install.

Full headwork and HD turbo cams and valve train. HD oil system mods and setup for a turbo drain down incorporated into the block already.
It is ready for your manifolds and turbo or SC- this is a bullet -proof engine!
This is the same engine Gm is making 1000+HP with and is a great engine for a turbo/SC project or a kit car conversion too.
(We can provide a RWD bellhousing for them now too) $3750 + truck frt.

2.2 ECotec HD clutch and sports flywheel- This is a specially lightened and machined flywheel that includes the factory SC 2.0 HD clutch assm

2.2 ECOtec sport flywheels- these are specially machined, lightened and rebalanced.
They will work with stock spec or aftermarket clutches $225 outright, ($175 exchange)

2.0 ECOtec cyl. head- This is the special sand cast head with dual cam drives for running a distributor also- not a stock 2.2 lost foam cast head.

Special oil pump & pan, but no t/chain accessories installed, you must supply your own. This can take a lot of power-one made over 450hp at an early Jbash.
It is setup for use with a modified 2.4 cylinder head, but we can provide gaskets & different pistons to suit if you plan a 2.3 cyl. head conversion also- inquire) $2750 + trk. frt.

4- 15 X 7" Kosei racing alloy wheels- these are the strong & light weight wheels we used on the GrandAm Cup race cars.
This is a brand new set of silver rims. NOTE- they are machined to fit the larger bolt pattern cars- later GrandAms-after '99, or any other Wcars like GrandPrix or MonteCarlo-
they will not bolt up to a Cav, Beretta, etc. without upgrading to the larger wheel brgs. and hubs.
They will fit all the Imports with the 114 patterns though- $300/set of 4.

Mantapart Debuts 2.5 Liter Hybrid Quad Supercharger Engine

2.5 SC
After lengthy development and testing, Mantapart has combined the best Quad 4 components with GMs SPO
supercharger kit and Electromotive's Tec3 EFI programmer to give a very potent new engine to the small GM
FWD crowd. Seeing the need to improve on the limitations of both the 2.4 engines and the SPO supercharger
kit, Mantapart has made many specialty parts and modifications to provide better power for these engines.

Mantapart has coupled the better flow of the earlier Quad 2.3 cylinder heads to a specially modified SPO
supercharger manifold. The increased flow allowed Mantapart to increase the displacement of the 2.4
engines and they also removed the power robbing balance shaft and weak oil system. Then by adding the
total engine management adjustability of the TEC 3 to the EFI , the power gains have been greater yet.
The basic sports 2.4 supercharger package engines are already at over 240 hp at the flywheel (nearly 200
at the wheel!) and the new hybrid 2.5 engines are looking at numbers close to the 300 mark. The results
are a very strong and reliable engine with power to spare for street or sports use.

Engine packages are available for most chassis models of the small GM FWD cars from '96 and up. Contact
Mantapart for more details and pricing on your specific engine and power needs.
