Pro Road Racing

The MDE Motorsports/Mantapart Pontiac Sunfire was originally built for the now-defunct USTCC Touring Car Championship. It was designed and constructed with engineering support from some of the major British Touring Car tuners. MDE will now be using it as a powertrain testbed and development tool for the GM 2.4 Quad and 2.2 ECOTEC Twin Cam engines. Various engine specifications are required in each class, so developments will be ongoing for a number of power and preparation levels with racing reliability to suit each class.

The Pontiac Sunfire features a fully-integrated roll cage that provides maximum unibody rigidity for optimal suspension tuning and safety of the drivers. The chassis features complete Bilstein coil over struts, adjustable suspension and swaybars and the best quality PBR/GM brake and chassis components. Engine management is provided with Electromotive programmable ECM/Ignition systems, and Tires are provided by Hoosier and Toyo for the certain series.

MDE's Pontiac Sunfire will be competing in the SCCA World Challenge Touring car and IMSA Rolex Cup series, where it will be pitted against the best small BMW, Honda/Acura, Mazda and other european small sedans. A Sunfire previously campaigned in WC was victorious at the Colorado event in 1999, so the prospects for the car are good. The MDE Pontiac is the only American-made and American marque vehicle entered for the 2002 season, so we will have our work cut out for us. That is why we need your support to attain these goals. Please contact us if you would like to involve your firm or products as an associate sponsor. The 2002 media exposure will include full race TV coverage on ESPN Speedvision and other Sports coverage programs on a nationwide level. This is a great opportunity to get into the ground floor of Motorsports advertising exposure and help support the only true American-made entry campaigned in this class.
